-Tues (Proposal) : Perhaps could have a big community dinner – the normal Tuesday soupie at FERN in freo could come to SOS, to help cook, and to get the wider community involved in SOS, also could be used as a fundraiser, as those that go to the soupie give a donation for being fed.
-This week work will be done regarding suppliers and logistics
-There is a meeting planned with a contact to talk about fairtrade products, perhaps we could get a cheaper deal on fair trade coffee, if we agree to promote their brands
-People are feeling like she needs another person to come on board to help her with food stuff, she is feeling a bit overwhelmed.... understandably!!! so perhaps at Mondays meeting can discuuss a re-shuffle of jobs, to get come more support.

-Had a discussion on what constitutes sustainable transport.... decided that anything that wasn't flying could be classed as sustainable transport
-people cannot receive the discount if they fly and buy carbon offsets, or if they do ACTIVATE
-a spiel will be put on the website outlining what constitutes sustainable transport, so it is clear to
people when they are registering if they can get the discount
-discussion on equity clause – was decided that differently abled individuals and people with young children, can claim the discount if they fly... as their circumstances hinder other forms of transport
at the payment section, near the part about discount for sustainable transport, there will be a spiel basically saying that we don't want money, or lack there of, to inhibit people from attending the conference, so if your circumstances inhibit your choices of transport, for example you are differently abled or have small children, or for some other specific reason must fly, please contact.........
Speakers Rego – an alternative registration form has been made for individuals putting on a workshop.......
the question was posed – do speakers have to pay rego fees? - it was decided that in the speakers rego form, there would be a section for payment, it will state that rego fees for speakers can be waived, however SOS does not have very much money, and any contribution would be highly appreciated..... Also there will be direct contact between the speakers and a member of the organising collective, so if it is discussed between them and also proposed and accepted by the collective at the next meeting then that speaker will just skip the payment section, but complete the rest of the form....
Indigenous rego – was discussed whether this will be free- was decided that it will be free.......as a sign of respect.... - it can be labeled 'paying the rent',
acknowledging that European settlement created the devastating conditions indigenous peoples live in
as indigenous peoples are under represented at the conference
-Rego forms should be up on the web this week, just waiting for a few specific details
-Talking on being contact over the net.... uploading and monitoring all rego forms onto the database
-We are going to be phone contact for rego stuff
-We asked whether the collective would be happy to include a section in the rego, in the payment section, where people can purchase the rising tides cd ($30) that ASEN has put together... this was agreed to.
SPEAKERS
-the speakers discussion started off with ideas for themes for each day of the conference
suggested: caring for country (for Tuesday)
suggested: environmental justice
-it was generally agreed that there should be different themes for each day, though it was thought that we should discuss what speakers and topics we have got covered and maybe select a few themes from looking at these..... so the discussion with proposals for themes for each day, will be continued at a later meeting
-Next ideas for the morning plenary/ big forums were discussed: below are proposed ideas!
-Huge theories of change forum...effectively inspiring action and change within the movement, identifying what needs to be changed, and how to go about it. To be run by ASEN crew, Change Agency...approx 1.5hrs
-Welcome to Country, also proposed with this idea, that indigenous speakers be the first to speak on a topic throughout the conference
-Inclusiveness – building on the Inclusiveness plenary at SoS06 confronting and combining gender, sexuality, class, race, mental illness, knowledge hierarchies and age issues within social movements
-Mining
You Can’t Dig your Way out of Climate Change – Rising Tide – COAL
Uranium Mining person especially talking about Honeymoon and Roxby Downs – impacts
Lake Cowal (Gold Mining) – Water impacts , indig impacts , cyanide issues, internationally
How Jabaluka was stopped – the power of grassroots movements and students to stop mining
-The future without climate change – including renewable energy, sustainable transport etc....
-International solidarity.....including indigenous speakers from Australia, venezualan speaker, PNG speakers, speaker from Nepal.....
-Proposed that at each plenary, there is at least one youth speaker
-Explained a community forum, that has happened at past SOS's and proposed that it happen at this SOS: one night have people from within the community coming to SOS...
-It was proposed that as there are 6 ideas for plenaries, and only five morning plenary spaces, perhaps monday morning starts with the welcome to country, from 9-11, and this is then followed by the theories of change workshop.... good start to the SOS! And the other four plenaries are held on the remaining four mornings.
-Proposed putting the eco-home renovation workshops into action...offering her house as the venue... where you would retrofit her house (a rental place) during the course of the week with 5 easy practical workshops eg.
Chickens -
Permaculture (see below)
energy efficiency and renewable energy (one of the many renewable energy speakers)
making your own rainwater tank –
wormfarm and composting - ?????
VENUE
quick outline of position of both Uni's and discussions so far:
UWA
-Lack of meetings with the people who make the decisions
-The director of facilities management is neg towards SOS
-They said we were mainly lacking in two areas:
needed a professional to look over EMP & RMP
we need to be financially secure to prove that we can cover ourselves
Murdoch
-the guild president said that the VC said that holding SOS at murdoch would be a positive for Murdoch
-meeting scheduled this week with VC
-may make SOS a murdoch sponsored event, as this would be good promo for murdoch as positive advertising for them and ISTP dept. - may also be able to get a cash grant
-basically, the venue crew have been getting a neg response from UWA and subsequently feeling burnt out, however are getting a pos response from murdoch, and thus getting inspired by the negotiations.
So for the next week the venue crew will be putting 80% of their effort into negotiations with murdoch, and 20% cont negotiations with UWA, in case UWA say no, we want to leave on good terms, and want to leave the negotiations conlcuded.
-what happens if both uni's say no???----Fairbridge..... problems: distance from Perth, cost of extra travel, and cost of hiring the venue....
