About Mitey Ko
UPDATED 2008: MiteyKo were formed in 1997 as a simple two piece project between anti-poet/ activist Allan Boyd and poet/Western Australian Symphony Orchestra cellist Kevin Gillam.
Whilst the initial idea was to put words to the haunting sound of the cello, the songs gradually became pop songs featuring guitar, cello and Boyd's unmistakable baritone vocals.
Towards the end of recording their debut release in 2000, 2theresQ, Boyd asked then Turnstyle frontman Adem K to contribute ideas as a favour to Boyd who often free-formed over Turnstyle instrumentals.
With Adem K onboard as a multi-instrumentalist, over the next several years, Mitey-Ko released 3 releases, 2 video clips and a featured track in the Australian feature film 'Teesh and Trude'. Blending simple arrangements, open tunings and primal rhythms Mitey-Ko are known in Western Australia as 'Perth's best kept indie secret'.
We are currently working on a 4th release.
